NAMI DuPage is committed to respecting the privacy of our donors. We have developed this privacy policy to ensure our donors that donor information will not be shared with any third party.
NAMI DuPage provides this Donor Privacy Policy to make you aware of our privacy policy, and to inform you of the way your information is used. We also provide you with the opportunity to remove your name from (or opt out of) our mailing list, if you desire to do so.
Information We Collect
NAMI DuPage collects personally-identifiable information, such as a donor’s name, home or work address, email address, and telephone numbers. Through the use of surveys and questionnaires, we may also collect unidentifiable demographic information such as ages, gender, ethnic background, and income. This information is collected to better understand the populations we serve and interact with. Tax laws in the United States require NAMI DuPage to keep contact information and contribution level of donors on file.
How We Use Your Information
NAMI DuPage will use contact information (name, e-mail, telephone number and address) of donors for these purposes only:
- Distribute receipts for donations.
- Thank donors for their donation.
- List the names of our donors on our website and in printed marketing materials unless the donor explicitly chooses to remain “anonymous”.
- Inform donors about upcoming fundraising events and other activities or news of NAMI DuPage in furtherance of our program goals and overall mission.
- E-newsletters
- Membership-related announcements or renewal notices.
- Internal analysis and record keeping.
- Reporting to relevant U.S. and State agencies as required by law.
- Changes to this policy.
Because a member of NAMI DuPage is also a member of NAMI (national) and NAMI Illinois. NAMI DuPage will occasionally share contact information of a member with the NAMI National organization or a NAMI Illinois. The purpose of such action is expressly for the furtherance of NAMI activities and goals, such as communicating or coordinating around a program, goal, or activity in furtherance of the NAMI mission.
Sharing of Personal Information
NAMI DuPage will never sell, trade, rent or share any personally-identifiable information, such as names (unless released for publication), e-mail or mail addresses, or telephone numbers, or demographic information of our donors.
Internet Security
NAMI DuPage is committed to ensuring the security of your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot cannot guarantee its absolute security.
To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, we use Internet encryption software — Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol — when collecting or transferring sensitive data. It encrypts all of your personal information, including credit card number, name, and address, so that it cannot be read over the internet.
Financial Transactions
All access to donor financial information is strictly limited to professional staff of NAMI DuPage whose job requires them to process this data. No such data is given to any person, organization or group who does not need to access those data. All printed donor information (checks, donation slips, and any copies) are kept in locked filing cabinets once the information has been processed.
Unless requested by the donor for the purpose of processing recurring donations, NAMI DuPage does not store, nor does it have access to, your credit card information, bank account numbers, or other account data sent to those processing services.
Unsubscribing from Our Mailing List
We provide you with the opportunity to remove your name from our mailing list so you do not receive any future communications from us. If you wish to unsubscribe, please contact [email protected] or click “unsubscribe” on the bottom of our communication to you.
Information Provided to External Websites
NAMI DuPage webpages may automatically redirect you to a third party website, provide links to a third party website, or may incorporate integrated tools that allow you to share your actions, information, or content via a third party social sharing service. These external websites and social sharing services contain their own data-collection forms and privacy policies; therefore any information entered by you via such external websites and social sharing services shall not be governed by this Privacy Policy. Please familiarize yourself with the privacy policies of such external websites and social sharing services before providing your information through them.
Donor Bill of Rights
NAMI DuPage subscribes to the Donor Bill of Rights, which was created by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) , and the Giving Institute: Leading Consultants to Non-Profits.
